MECHANISM FOR PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION

To implement a project means to carry out activities proposed in the application form with the aim to achieve project objectives and deliver results and outputs. Its success depends on many internal and external factors. Some of the most important ones are a very well organised project team and effectivemonitoring of project progress and related expenditures.

  1. Monitoring Committee:

    Monitoring is necessary for control of the projectimplementation in order to keep the project on track and achieve the end results of the project, hence for the monitoring, evaluation and co-ordination of the works involved in this Kathmandu-Terai/Madhesh Fast Track Expressway Road Project a high level Monitoring Committee has been established which comprises the following:

    Defence Minister, Ministry of Defence Co-ordinator
    Vice Chairman, National Planning Commission Member
    Chief of Army Staff, Nepali Army Member
    Secretary, Ministry of Finance Member
    Secretary, Ministry of Defence Member
    Secretary, Ministry of Physical Infrastructure & Trans. Member
    Steering Committee Chairman Member Secretary

    Monitoring Committee reports to the Prime Minister on the monthly basis after monitoring and evaluating the work performance of the project.

  2. Steering Committee

    The empowered Steering Committee or Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) mandated for successful accomplishment of the project comprises the following:

    Lieutenant General,(Appointed by Chief of Army Staff) Nepali Army Chairman
    Major General, Directorate General of Military Operation, Nepali Army Member
    Joint Secretary, Ministry of Finance Member
    Joint Secretary, Ministry of Defence Member
    Joint Secretary, Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Member
    Joint Secretary, National Planning Commission Member
    Project Chief, Nepali Army Member Secretary
